Boating and Fishing Powered Outdoor Recreation Economy in 2020

On Tuesday, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) released its 2020 report on outdoor recreation’s powerful and positive economic impact, which confirmed that boating and fishing remain the number one contributor to this critical sector of the U.S. economy.

In Loving Memory: Albert Marmo

Mr. Albert Marmo of Bowie, Maryland, and formerly of Moosic, passed away Monday, November 1, at his home. He held various management positions in the National Recreational Boating Safety Program, and was selected to the National Safe Boating Council Boating Safety Hall of Fame in 2003.

People with diabetes can now view Dexcom CGM data on their Garmin smartwatch

Garmin® International, Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (NASDAQ: GRMN), today introduced the Dexcom Connect IQ apps, providing people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes who use the Dexcom® G6 Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) System1 with a way to quickly see their glucose levels and trends – even while working out – right on their compatible Garmin smartwatch or cycling computer.2 The apps can be downloaded now from the Connect IQ™ store.

Training Update: NSBC Instructor Certification Course Name

The NSBC board and staff have changed the name of our certification course to eliminate confusion on what our instructor trainers and instructors are certified to teach. We have renamed the Essentials in Close Quarters and Open Water Boat Control curriculum to the National Safe Boating Council Instructor Certification.

National Safe Boating Council Membership Elects 2021-2022 Board of Directors

The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC), a national catalyst for recreational boating safety, is pleased to announce the board of directors for 2021-2022. The NSBC membership accepted the board’s vote for the following officers at the General Membership Meeting, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in conjunction with the National Association of State Boating Law Administrator’s Annual Conference.
