NSBC Names NMMA President Thom Dammrich 2019 Boating Safety Hall of Fame Recipient

MANASSAS, Va. (March 25, 2019) – The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC), a national catalyst for recreational boating safety, inducted Thom Dammrich into the NSBC Boating Safety Hall of Fame at the 2019 International Boating and Water Safety Summit. The NSBC Boating Safety Hall of Fame is the organization’s most prestigious award, recognizing those who have provided vital leadership and boating safety support throughout their career.

Dammrich has been at the helm of National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for nearly 20 years.

“As Thom reminds us, ‘a safe boating experience is the best boating experience,”’ said Chris Stec, chair of the National Safe Boating Council. “His leadership and tireless work to unite the marine and recreational boating safety industries has advanced boating safety like no one else has done before.”

From the beginning of his tenure at NMMA, Dammrich recognized that collaborating across recreational boating as well as the broader outdoor community would be critical to the industry’s success. He created a united voice in both the legislative and economic arenas and has positioned recreational boating as a leader. He has championed the American Boating Congress to help ensure the marine industry voice is heard on Capitol Hill, and he’s built important relationships for the industry across the globe.

Chris Edmonston, past chair of the NSBC and president of the BoatU.S. Foundation, shared about his personal experience working with Thom over the past decade during the induction ceremony. “There is no one else more deserving of this award than Thom. Due to his efforts, boats and waterways are safer, and it is an honor to induct him into the NSBC Boating Safety Hall of Fame.”

The International Boating and Water Safety Summit is the premier conference for training, education, awareness, meeting, and networking for professionals, volunteers, and anyone involved in boating and water safety. The 23rd annual conference was held in Jacksonville, FL at the Omni Jacksonville Hotel from March 24-27, 2019.

The NSBC Boating Safety Hall of Fame was established in 1995 and recognizes individuals who have made, or continue to generate, substantial and lasting contributions toward the advancement of recreational boating safety.
