NSBC Deputy Director Awarded U.S. Coast Guard Distinguished Public Service Award

Fred Messmann, Deputy Director of National Safe Boating Council, Awarded U.S. Coast Guard Distinguished Public Service Award

Manassas, VA (November 16, 2015) – Fred Messmann, Deputy Director of the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC), has been recognized with the U.S. Coast Guard Distinguished Public Service Award, presented November 12th at the 94th National Boating Safety Advisory Council (NBSAC) meeting in Arlington, VA.

Mr. Messmann has served as Chairman of the National Boating Safety Advisory Council’s Strategic Planning Subcommittee since 2005. His dedicated hours led to the creation of the first five-year Strategic Plan of the National Recreation Boating Safety Program in 2007 and it successor plan in
2012, which laid the groundwork for the 2017 plan update.

“The success of the national Recreational Boating Safety Strategic Plan 2012-2016 and the recent trend of declining recreational boating casualties are due in no small part to Mr. Messmann’s unparalleled bias for action and demonstrated commitment to recreational boating safety and reflect great credit upon himself, the National Recreational Boating Safety Program, the NSBC, and the U.S. Coast Guard,” remarks Captain Tom Boross, U.S. Coast
Guard.

Mr. Messmann’s outstanding contributions and strong leadership reflects one of the many reasons he has been recognized with U.S. Coast Guard Distinguished Public Service Award.
