National Safe Boating Council Announces Three New Membership Categories

Membership Classifications Created to Accommodate the Needs of NSBC Stakeholders

Manassas, VA (June 16, 2016) – The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) Board of Directors recently approved the broadening of our membership with the creation of three new categories: Instructor, Instructor-Trainer, and Engaging Victims & Survivors. The creation of these membership types was a result of feedback received by current and prospective members
and a belief that they will enhance the overall mission of the NSBC.

As the NSBC continues its strategic goal of strengthening our training programs, two new memberships will offer more support for our trainers, and provide benefits to them and their own training efforts. The Instructor Membership is for those individuals who have been certified by the NSBC after successfully completing an NSBC training course. The Instructor-Trainer Membership is for those who have become Instructor-Trainers for the NSBC. By joining today, they will receive exclusive benefits such as discounts on training materials, regular email updates specific to training, and the ability to issue participation certificates to students. There is also a
$10 agency discount for those who belong to an organization that is already a member of the NSBC.

The Engaging Victims & Survivors initiative was created to find ways to better provide support and guidance for those affected by boating accidents. Previously, there was only an option to donate to this program. In order to create a community and to provide benefits to those interested
in supporting this cause, the NSBC created a membership category. This membership category will provide an opportunity for individuals to make something good come from boating injuries or accidents.

“We believe these three new membership categories will strengthen the effectiveness of the NSBC, while providing an opportunity to show our appreciation with the associated benefits,” commented Rachel Johnson, NSBC Executive Director. “Only together can we make a positive change for the future of recreational boating safety.”

Joining the NSBC provides an opportunity to better promote boating safety while receiving tangible and intangible benefits from the NSBC to help do so. The NSBC currently has over 330 members made up of mainly non-profit organizations with 35% being for-profit organizations.

NSBC Membership comes with exclusive benefits, depending on the type. These include discounts on all NSBC products, exclusive access to NSBC news, invitations to seminars and training, to name a few.
