William Gossard is recognized for his unparalleled dedication and commitment to boating safety

Savannah, GA (March 9, 2011) – The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) is proud to introduce two deserving individuals into its prestigious Boating Safety Hall of Fame in 2011. The award is used to recognize those who have demonstrated vital leadership and support through many years of service to boating safety.

For 2011, William H. Gossard of the National Transportation Safety Board and Shawn Alladio, a PWC Boating Safety Instructor and Water Safety Consultant join thirty-four other people in the NSBC’s Boating Safety Hall of Fame. These two individuals are commended for their hard work and dedication that have helped to make a lasting contribution to the interest of boating safety.

William (“Bill”) Gossard has been employed in federal service for over forty years. He is currently a senior Program Manager with the National Transportation Safety Board. Mr. Gossard has been a voice for the recreational boating community, testifying on various boating safety issues and publishing or contributing to fourteen national transportation safety studies focused on important topics as they relate to the recreational boating community.

Bill has contributed countless hours as a volunteer in the field of boating safety, both internationally and on U.S. soil. He has been recognized with several awards, including the NASBLA President’s Award and Bonner Award as well as the NTSB Outstanding Performance Award. Mr. Gossard accepted his award in front of his peers and colleagues at the 15th Annual International Boating and Water Safety Summit in Savannah, Georgia in March 2011.

“It is with great pride that the National Safe Boating Council’s Boating Safety Hall of Fame now includes Mr. Gossard,” remarks Veronica Floyd, Chair of the NSBC. “His work in the legislative realm has moved recreational boating into the foreground of many people’s minds, helping to advance our nation’s safety culture.”

The National Safe Boating Council utilizes the Boating Safety Hall of Fame to bring the deserving attention to those individuals that tirelessly and selflessly commit themselves to such a
worthy cause and, in turn, making our nation’s waterways safer for all to enjoy.
