Boating Safety Hall of Fame

Shawn Alladio is recognized for her unparalleled dedication and commitment to boating safety

Savannah, GA (March 9, 2011) – The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) is proud to introduce two deserving individuals into its prestigious Boating Safety Hall of Fame. The award is used to recognize those who have demonstrated vital leadership and support through many years of service to boating safety.

For 2011, Shawn Alladio, a PWC Boating Safety Instructor and Water Safety Consultant and William H. Gossard of the National Transportation Safety Board join thirty-four other people in the NSBC’s Boating Safety Hall of Fame. These two individuals are commended for their hard work and dedication that have helped to make a lasting contribution to the interest of boating safety.

Shawn Alladio has more than thirty years experience in recreational boating safety. She has not only developed, but also contributed to the field of recreational boating safety through personal advocacy efforts, training and program development, curriculum development, and on-water first-response water rescue. Shawn has volunteered with dozens of clubs and organizations, including the IJSBA Personal Watercraft Club and the International Surfing Association, and has held many positions in these different realms. Ms. Alladio has also received many awards and recognitions throughout the years for her hard work, including awards presented by the NSBC, the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), and the National Water Safety Congress (NWSC). Shawn Alladio will be recognized with her award at a later date this year.

“It is with great pride that the National Safe Boating Council’s Boating Safety Hall of Fame now includes Ms. Alladio,” remarks Veronica Floyd, Chair of the NSBC. “Her work and efforts in training others has truly helped to make boating a much safer recreational activity.”

The National Safe Boating Council utilizes the Boating Safety Hall of Fame to bring the deserving attention to those individuals that tirelessly and selflessly commit themselves to such a worthy cause and, in turn, making our nation’s waterways safer for all to enjoy.
