Federal Boat Safety Act of 1971
Join the celebration of the 50th anniversary for the Federal Boat Safety Act of 1971! On August 10th, 1971, President Richard Nixon signed the Federal Boat Safety Act (FBSA). The act mandated a cooperative Federal-State effort to improve the safety of recreational boating in the United States. It also established the National Recreational Boating Safety Program and gave the U.S. Coast Guard the authority to establish mandatory boat manufacturing and safety standards.
We made it easy to support the 50th anniversary! Resources and more are available at www.FederalBoatSafetyAct.com.
Mark your calendars for the 2021 National Safe Boating Week celebrations! The boating fun will start with Wear Your Life Jacket at Work Day on Friday, May 21, 2021, and continue from May 22-28, 2021 with National Safe Boating Week. This is a great opportunity to be an example and show others how #realboaterswearit.
At the NSBC, we're grateful for recreational boating safety partnerships around the world! Vava’u Volunteer Maritime Response Association is an incorporated society of the Kingdom of Tonga that assists the Ministry of Police with Search and Rescue Operations, such as handle requests for marine assistance, provide VHF radio watch, and promote water safety education in their community year-round. They are a big supporter of the Safe Boating Campaign. Read the blog >>
