Largest Online Library of FREE Boating Resources

The Safe Boating Campaign, a worldwide effort focused on responsible boating led by the National Safe Boating Council, has the largest online library of FREE resources to encourage new and experienced boaters to choose to boat responsibly.

“At the National Safe Boating Council, we are committed to creating a safe boating experience for all recreational boaters,” said Peg Phillips, executive director of the National Safe Boating Council. “No matter your ability, age, color, or shape, we encourage you to connect with local partners in your community to learn how you can enjoy the best day on the water.”

Partners have access to a robust library of FREE resources to support their local outreach efforts. The Safe Boating Campaign resources have been recognized with national and international award associations including the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, Hermes Creative, PRSA, The Telly Awards Judging Council, and more. Resources include branding, banners, flyers, infographics, launch point signs, photo library, posters, public service announcements, radio ads, social media resources, videos, and much more.

“We are excited to be a partner with the Safe Boating Campaign to provide more black and brown women and their families the opportunity to hold space and feel welcomed on the water,” said Tanya Walker, president and founder of Black Women Who, a nonprofit that empowers women and children to take part in outdoor activities across the U.S.

Boat Sober this Fourth of July

The Safe Boating Campaign, a worldwide effort focused on responsible boating, reminds boaters to boat sober this Fourth of July. Boating under the influence, or BUI, is the leading contributing factor in recreational boater deaths, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

“The Fourth of July has unfortunately become known for drinking, boating, and deadly incidents,” said Peg Phillips, executive director of the National Safe Boating Council. “Never boat under the influence of alcohol or drugs – this is a danger to the boat operator, passengers, and others enjoying the water.”

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, a partner of the Safe Boating Campaign, in collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard and law enforcement agencies nationwide, is coordinating the annual Operation Dry Water three-day weekend. This heightened BUI awareness and enforcement effort will be held from July 1 to July 3 in every U.S. state and territory.

The Safe Boating Campaign also encourages boaters this Fourth of July to check all equipment is present and working, share the details of their trip with someone trusted before leaving the dock, wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket, use an engine cut-off switch, watch the weather, and follow all navigation rules.

“Boating incidents can happen at any time, so it’s important to always be prepared,” continued Phillips. “Wear a life jacket and always boat sober.”
