U.S. National Water Safety Action Plan

The U.S. National Water Safety Action Plan (USNWSAP) was officially launched on June 29, 2023 and provides a national roadmap for collective action to reduce drowning in the United States and aims to unite the water safety community to help put an end to preventable drowning tragedies nationwide. We believe our collective efforts will help turn the tide of drowning and transform water safety in the U.S., saving lives now and for generations to come.

Additionally, the USNWSAP calls water safety communities across the country to come together at the local, county, or state level and collaborate on the development and implementation of a coordinated data- and evidence-informed action plan designed to reduce drowning and address inequities in their specific context. To support communities in the development of their water safety action plan, there is a 12-step Reflection to Action Process.

NSBC staff and members served on various committees in development of the USNWSAP. We are proud to support this important effort in advance water safety across the nation. Please visit watersafetyplan.us to download your copy of the USNWSAP and the Reflection Phase Guidance today!

NSBC Member Survey

The National Safe Boating Council exists to make recreational boating safer for all who enjoy the waterways. The community we serve includes organizations, agencies, and companies, as well as volunteers and individuals, who influence and impact recreational boating safety.

We want to know what is important to you as a member of the NSBC. Your feedback provides clarity that the aims of our mission are being met. Please share your insight in our annual membership survey. This survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.

By participating in the survey you will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win an ACR ResQFlare - a USCG-approved electronic boat flare kit that facilitates rescue by emitting the flash characteristic for the International Morse Code for S-O-S.
