Virgil Chambers announced as a 2013 recipient of the prestigious ACA President’s Award

September 30, 2013 – ACA National Paddlesports Awards Announced Virgil Chambers, Director Emeritus of the National Safe Boating Council, has just been announced as a 2013 recipient of the prestigious ACA President’s Award.

Each year, the ACA recognizes a select group of individuals and organizations who have illustrated exemplary leadership, service, and
dedication to various aspects of paddlesport. The President’s Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to
the ACA on a national level.

The ACA honored Mr. Chambers with the President’s Award at the 6th annual National Paddlesports Conference in Bend, Oregon, on Saturday, September 28, 2013.

Founded in 1880, The American Canoe Association (ACA) is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization serving the broader paddling public by providing education related to all aspects of paddling; stewardship support to help protect paddling environments; and sanctioning of programs and events to promote paddlesport competition and recreation. The ACA has over 20,000 members, and 300 paddling clubs and affiliated organizations. The ACA sponsors over 1,400 events each year, including 200 races.
