Operation Dry Water (ODW) is a year-round boating under the influence awareness and enforcement campaign with the goal of removing impaired operators from the water and raising awareness of the dangers of boating under the influence. Alcohol continues to be the leading contributing factor in fatal boating accidents.
Agencies from all 56 U.S. states and territories are expected to participate in Operation Dry Water, and in the 2021 heightened awareness and enforcement weekend, July 2 – 4, a holiday weekend unfortunately known for drinking and boating.
Last month, Operation Dry Water was proud to join boating safety advocates nationwide during National Safe Boating Week, May 22 – 28, to raise awareness about safe boating practices. National Safe Boating Week is observed to bring attention to important lifesaving tips for recreational boaters so they can have a safe and enjoyable boating season.
You can register your agency/station now for the three-day heightened enforcement weekend taking place nationwide July 2 – 4, 2021.
