National Boating Safety Advisory Council

NSBC's Peg Phillips and board member Dana Gage presented at the 100th meeting of the National Boating Safety Advisory Council in mid-October. The discussion focused on voluntary life jacket wear efforts, what's happening now with boaters and efforts to motivate boaters to wear a life jacket. The group took a deeper look at social conformity and the need to market life jackets as part of the outdoor lifestyle and essential gear. Just like a cyclist will wear a helmet or a hiker will use hiking poles, a boater should wear a life jacket while boating. Learn more about the National Boating Safety Advisory Council.
