Update on Life Jacket Labels
|

The NSBC participated in the Life Jacket Association (LJA) Industry Stakeholder Meeting on the Implementation of the Standard ANSI/CAN/UL 12402-5:2015 - Personal Flotation Devices - Part 5: Buoyancy Aids (Level 50 & Level 70) - Safety Requirements, and ANSI/CAN/UL 12402-9:2015 - Personal Flotation Devices - Part 9: Test Methods, held by WebEx on January 24, 2018.
Manufacturers will begin to move towards adoption of the new label formats in UL 1123 and UL 1180 no later than July 2022. Click here to download the presentation for additional updates.

Ready, Set, Wear It New Event Dates
|
|
Join boating safety advocates around the world for family-fun events to heighten awareness of boating safety issues and go for a world record along the way! Participate in one of four Ready, Set, Wear It events hosted by the Safe Boating Campaign to raise awareness about the importance of wearing a life jacket: May 19, June 9, July 7 and August 11, 2018.
Previously only one event during National Safe Boating Week, Ready, Set, Wear It is now offered four times throughout the summer to provide more opportunities for grassroots support of the Safe Boating Campaign. Registration opens in March 2018 at www.safeboatingcampaign.com.

Get ready for the spring boating season with a NSBC Boating Safety Instructor Course! The next course will be held April 10 - 11, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio.
This two-day course covers safe boating practices and the proper interpretation of each element of the National Boating Education Knowledge – Power ANSI Standards. For current instructors, this course provides opportunities for growth, professional development and new ideas.
