International Boating and Water Safety Summit Celebrates 25 Years in Washington D.C.

The 25th anniversary celebration of the International Boating and Water Safety Summit (IBWSS) will be held March 13 – 16, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Dulles, located just minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport.

The international summit is hosted by the National Safe Boating Council, in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard, and brings together boating and water safety industry professionals to network and learn about the latest in boating and water safety to save lives around the world. Attendees include federal and state agencies, marine law enforcement, parks services personnel, instructors, nonprofit representatives, and others. Anyone involved in boating and water safety is encouraged to attend IBWSS by registering at https://www.ibwss.org.

“IBWSS will make a splash with dynamic speakers, exclusive networking opportunities, engaging panel discussions, and a unique group excursion,” said Peg Phillips, executive director of the National Safe Boating Council.

IBWSS attendees can earn continuing education units for participating in sessions. The National Safe Boating Council is a Certified Recreational Boating Professional (CRBP) Approved Course Provider, supporting the voluntary credential for recreational boating professionals developed by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.

The premier sponsor of IBWSS is Deckee, the analytics and engagement platform for the waterways, and the maker of the world’s leading boating safety app. This free boating safety app provides all the tools and information for boaters to enjoy their time on the water and return home safely. The app, which is continuously augmented, contains maritime data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), over 54,000 aids to navigation from the U.S. Coast Guard, 4000 nautical chart features, and weather information such as wind, tides, and swell. “Our mission at Deckee is to keep everyone safe and informed on the water. Everything we do aims to make a positive impact and ultimately reduce loss of life, injuries and accidents through assisting boaters in taking proper safety precautions when out on the water,” said Deckee’s Founder and CEO Mike McKiernan.

The International Boating and Water Safety Summit is partially funded under a grant from the Sports Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, administered by the U.S. Coast Guard.
