Keeping Our Waterways Safe & Secure
This trifold brochure explains a number of new regulations and policy changes that impact recreational boaters in the wake of 9-11. It discusses the Naval Vessel Protection Zone, restrictions on anchoring in ship channels and under bridges, the need to avoid various restricted areas near dams and nuclear power plants, and to stay clear of commercial traffic and port operation areas. The brochure requests the public's help in aiding first responders by boating safely, staying away from security and other prohibited areas, and reporting suspicious activities they observe to local authorities.

The brochures are available in limited qualities (maximum of 1,200) to those agencies, groups or organizations wanting to distribute information to the recreational boater. The publication is printed by the U.S. Coast Guard and is available free of charge. The brochures are paper wrapped in quantities of 400. Single copies of the publications may be downloaded and copied.
